The Culver City Fire Department (CCFD) has received Reaccredited Agency status from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. CCFD is among more than 300 agencies to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status with CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE).

CCFD is one of only five agencies in California to have obtained both accredited agency status from CFAI and Class 1 status from the Insurance Services Office. Of the 21 accredited agencies in California, 10 are fully career departments like CCFD.

CFAI is dedicated to assisting fire and emergency service agencies worldwide in achieving excellence through self-assessment and accreditation. This process promotes continuous quality improvement and enhances service delivery to communities. The CFAI process is voluntary and provides agencies with a model for assessing their service delivery and performance internally, followed by evaluation from a team of peers from other agencies.

The CFAI model is a process that CCFD believes in and has been practicing since 1998. The award received by the Department on August 5, 2024, marks the sixth time CCFD has been accredited by CFAI. With each accreditation cycle, hundreds of volunteers internationally strive to elevate standards and continuously improve service to their communities. Members of CCFD, along with fellow City departments and affiliated agencies, have invested countless hours into this process. Receiving this accreditation award represents a significant milestone in this ongoing effort.

CCFD is extremely grateful for the involvement and hard work of its members, the support of the Culver City Mayor and City Council, neighboring agencies, and the CFAI commission.
